FAMRI H-Index: A Legacy of Scientific Impact
The H-index is an author-level metric that measures the productivity and citation impact of publications, initially used for an individual scientist or scholar. The H-index correlates with obvious success indicators such as winning the Nobel Prize, being accepted for research fellowships, and holding positions at top universities [1]Bornmann, Lutz; Daniel, Hans-Dieter (July 2007). “What do we know about the h-index?”. The index is based on the scientistโs most cited papers and the number of citations in other publications. The index has recently been applied to the productivity and impact of a scholarly journal[2] Suzuki, Helder (2012). “Google Scholar Metrics for Publications”. googlescholar.blogspot.com.br., and a group of scientists, such as a university, a department, an institution, or country [3]Jones, T.; Huggett, S.; Kamalski, J. (2011). “Finding a Way Through the Scientific Literature: Indexes and Measures”. World Neurosurgery. 76 (1โ2): 36โ38. … Continue reading.
Shortly after its inception, FAMRI would become a primary source of secondhand tobacco smoke science, with peer-reviewed science and publications emerging within a year of its establishment.
A 2013 study of FAMRI research by the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS) measured FAMRIโS H-Index. The findings show that FAMRIโs impact was surpassed only by Harvard as an organization.
